How to merge PDF files for free

Combining PDFs is the most common PDF task there is, which is exactly why many tools meter it hard — two merges a day, then the upgrade screen. Here the merge tool is free within a generous daily allowance, needs no account, and never stamps a watermark on the combined file.

You are not limited to gluing whole files either: expand any document and take just the pages you need.

Step by step

  1. 1Add your files. Drop two or more PDFs on the Merge tool — select them all at once or add them one by one.
  2. 2Put them in order. Drag the file cards into the order you want in the final document.
  3. 3Need only some pages?. Open "Show pages" on a file to see its pages and untick the ones to leave out — merge chapters, not just whole files.
  4. 4Merge and download. Press Merge. The combined PDF downloads with every page at its original quality; nothing is recompressed.

Keeping the merged file small

Merging concatenates pages, so the output size is roughly the sum of the inputs. If the combined file is too big to email, run it through Compress PDF afterwards — Balanced strength typically makes office documents a fraction of their size without visible quality loss.

Privacy during the merge

Files upload over HTTPS, are private to your session, and are deleted automatically 60 minutes after last use. Nothing you merge is kept, included in backups, or readable by anyone else.

Frequently asked questions

The free tier merges up to 25 files in one task; Pro removes the daily task limit.
Will the quality drop?
No — pages are copied as-is into the new document, not re-rendered.
Can I reorder pages after merging?
Yes, the Organize PDF tool reorders, rotates or deletes pages of any PDF.
